Travel Agency

  • First application

    Documents needed for application

    1.
    Completed application form for opening travel agency;
    NB: According to Article 10 of Decree Law no. 48/98/M dated 3rd November, which is amended by Administrative Regulation no. 42/2004, names of the travel agency should be in the official languages of Chinese and Portuguese. An additional name in a foreign language, such as English, can be included. The meaning of the name in official languages should be basically compatible.
    2.
    Documents proving the technical director to be employed satisfies all requirements, namely:
    - Photocopy of identity document (front and reverse side on the same page);
    -
    Certified copy of academic certificates; originals must be produced for verification in case photocopies are submitted;
    -
    Original or certified copy of certificates of work experience; originals must be produced for verification in case photocopies are submitted;
    - Completed curriculum vitae and declaration letter of technical director;
    3.
    Original of company registration certificate issued by the Commercial and Movable Property Registry within the past 3 months;
    4.
    Original certificate of registration issued by the Land Registry for immovable property of travel agency concerned;
    5. Floor plan of the travel agency in a scale of 1:100, signed by professional technician registered with the Land, Public Works and Transport Bureau;
    6.
    Proposed travel pamphlets and itineraries (foreign and local tour);
    7.
    Document(s) proving co-operation with local and foreign travel agencies.
    8.
    Copy of M/1 business tax form of the Finance Services Bureau (DSF) (may be submitted upon application for inspection of facilities);
    9.
    Original or certified copy of professional liability insurance policy (may be submitted upon application for inspection of facilities);
    10.
    Original bank guarantee (may be submitted upon application for inspection of facilities).
    Please note: Applicants should apply for inspection of facilities within six months upon notice from MGTO regarding approval of application.

    Fees (to be paid upon application for inspection of facilities)

    -
    Fee for license issuance - MOP 25,000.00 (plus 10% stamp duty);
    -
    Fee for inspection of facilities - MOP 500.00;
    -
    Fee for publishing license extract in the Official Bulletin of the Macau SAR - MOP 1,000.00 (Overpayment refundable; supplemental payment for deficiency).

    Payment methods

    According to Administrative Regulation no. 22/2008:
    1. Payment can be made by MOP cash, bank draft or cheque, while only one of these 3 means can be used in each payment;
    2. If payment is made by bank draft or cheque:
    - It should be made payable to "Macau Government Tourist Office";
    - Exact amount payable should be put on the bank draft or cheque;
    - The issue date of the cheque should be no more than 3 days prior to the date when payment is made.

    Validity of license

    One year.

    Performance pledge

      Items of Performance Pledge Standard handling time and service description
      Examination and approval of technical director Within 15 working days counting from the day after MGTO receives the application and all necessary documents.
      Inspection of facilities Within 14 working days counting from the day after the interested party submits the application and provides all necessary documents to MGTO.
